They anticipate Sony basically giving the show to NBC for free just to make the number. Today they are hedging just a little bit on that prediction, but still seem pretty confident that Community will reappear somewhere on NBC this season, and again next season. Also not mentioned in the post, but is in the linked article, is Prime Suspect. The TVBTN folks have listed that as a goner for weeks now, so no surprise, though it may pop up again on the schedule before the season is over. What is surprising (to me) is how much less I dislike this show now than I expected to, and did after its first episode. In fact, if they just called it by a different title, I think I would say now that I actually enjoy the program, and will miss it when it is gone. Very good idea to switch Up All Night with Whitney. I feel almost honor bound to watch all Thursday night NBC comedies, assuming they will eventually not stink - I still bear the scars from all those hours wasted waiting for Caroline in the City, Suddenly Susan, and Veronica's Closet (oooooh, special shiver of exquisite pain on that one) not to suck. I did draw the line of self-abuse at the horrid Coupling and Kath and Kim - and yes, I am working from a wiki list ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Must_See_TV#NBC_Thursday-night_lineup_history) since I had repressed the name of that abomination. Now I assume I can comfortably ignore Whitney without feeling like I am betraying ancient commitments, and settle in to wait for Up All Night to stink a little less. -- TV or Not TV ....
