The problem here is the same as always--*American* producers don't consider PBS a place to take their riskier projects and that damn pledge drive crap undoes any attempts PBS makes to remake themselves. Whether or not you like Ira Glass or "This American Life," PBS was the natural place for a television version of the series, not Showtime. Hell, it's a more natural place for a television version of "Wait, Wait...Don't Tell Me!" than BBCA. (I realize that NPR and PBS and PRI and APM are separate entities, but there should be more cooperation between them.) PBS has a long way to go before they lose the image of being the network with an audience under the age of 8 and over the age of 80.
