Would definitely do the Universal Tour; would skip City Walk.

There is a free shuttle that takes you up the hill (or at least there used
to be). It's such a steep ride, it'll probably be fun for your son.

The La Brea tar pit museum is cool.

I wouldn't rule out possible cost savings through Long Beach, Orange County,
or Ontario airports. I think Knott's Berry Farm isn't too far from Long
Beach.

I did not take the Universal Tour when I was there in October, and I would
recommend skipping the Universal CityWalk.

Universal and Hollywood Blvd. (Hollywood and Highland specifically) are one
stop apart on the Metro. However, the walk from the Universal Metro to the
complex is up a large hill.

In case the timing is right, here's the link to the Walk of Fame's upcoming
ceremonies (really only whomever is up next).

Subject: [TV orNotTV] OT: LAX or PSP trip April 2012

So on Friday through Sunday April 13-15 I will be attending the 1st weekend
of the Coachella music festival in Palm Springs/Indio. I've done this
previously (2008, 2009) and mentioned it to people on the list.

My preference is to fly into Palm Springs, PSP, but it may be significantly
cheaper to fly into LAX and do some touristy things on Wed or Thurs. This
year I am bringing my 13 year old son. I've checked many tv ticket places
and most shows are 16+ or 18+, so that's off the list. On previous trips, I
have done the WB-studio tour, Santa Monica beach, Venice Beach, Venice
walk-around, Bronson Canyon (bat cave, hollywood sign), and other
drive-by's.

Any recommendations for, say 4-8 hours in LA-land for a way-cool Dad and a
13-year old boy? My only remaining thoughts are:
- other studio tours
- universal tour and park
- hollywood blvd
- in-and-out
- driving mulholland dr
- griffith(?) observatory
- [who is the yahoo guy on the list? I can't recall]

thanks always.
