Looking at his CV on Wikipedia, he's not previously done an enormous amount
of live TV. The '101 Ways to Leave A Game Show' thing was pre-recorded, as
were many of his other shows.

The notable exception was T4 which is a live weekend strand on Channel 4
aimed at tweens and teens that has been churning out presenters for years
now. I guess it's the UK equivalent of getting your break on the Disney
channel.

That was all live, but pretty relaxed in the scheme of things. I suspect
that making one of those big live productions look seamless to viewers is a
lot harder than we perhaps give presenters credit for.

Actually, I've always found him perfectly likeable. But music-based reality
shows leave me cold, and I certainly didn't bother with the US X-Factor.
