I didn't watch the 2010 BBC movie based on Douglas Adams' Dirk Gently, but I did catch the recent episode. Unlike the current Sherlock series, this detective operates on an antithesis of logic. The TV Gently has a Watson of sorts, but Gently's oddness goes beyond the idiosyncrasies of Holmes. The late Douglas Adams ultimately realized his title character was nearly impossible to write for, but it is fun watching somebody try.
