*LONDON, 2nd May 2012: From today Sky News will be available in the United States and Canada for the first time via Livestation, the largest aggregator of live television news online. Viewers in the US and Canada will have access to Sky News’ international feed by subscribing to Livestation for $2.99 a month.* Sky News regularly reports major US stories including in depth coverage of the 2012 Presidential Election. The channel has a bureau in Washington DC which includes correspondents Greg Milam and Dominic Waghorn and White House analyst, Jon-Christopher Bua, as well as correspondent Hannah Thomas-Peter in New York. Adam Boulton, Sky’s Political Editor, spent the first 100 days of Barack Obama’s Presidency reporting from the US and gained a UK exclusive interview with him during the President’s historic visit to Ghana. More recently Sky News presenter Kay Burley interviewed Hillary Clinton in Washington on International Women’s Day. Sky News has also led the way in broadcasting major events in High Definition including Barack Obama’s Inauguration and the funeral of Michael Jackson. John Ryley, Head of Sky News, commented: ‘This is a great step forward for us. Recently Sky News has increased its global reach to 103 million homes around the world and I am delighted that we are now available in both the United States and Canada as well. The US news agenda is one that we feature heavily on Sky News and I’m thrilled that our world-class international news coverage can now be enjoyed by our viewers there.’ Lippe Oosterhof, Livestation CEO said: ‘Livestation is thrilled to launch Sky News in North America; feedback from our user base shows that there is a strong demand for quality live TV news in the US and Canada and Sky News certainly falls into that category. Today, live streaming offers a credible alternative to traditional closed distribution such as cable and satellite and this deal demonstrates that even premium content can launch online first.’ Sky News content can also regularly be seen on US channels CBS and Fox News. http://skynews.skypressoffice.co.uk/press-releases/items/2012-05/2571/sky-news-enter-united-states-canada-livestation * * On May 8, 2012, at 10:37 AM, Mark Jeffries <[email protected]> wrote: Reese Schoenfeld, the guy who helped run CNN when they started, for years in his blog called on Roger Ailes to distribute Sky News UK in the U.S. as an alternative to FNC.
