Not quite -- Don listening to the song was unrelated to auditioning it for potential use in a commercial (there'd been talk earlier in the episode of using the Beatles in a commercial, but they were discounted as being too expensive). As it says in the New York Times article, Don is "struggling to understand youth culture," which Megan notices; she gives him a copy of "Revolver" and suggests he start with "Tomorrow Never Knows." Spoiler alert: he doesn't make it all the way through the song.
