Since I've been a regular Today Show viewer (maybe the only one in this group?) as long as I can remember (my parents had it on when I was growing up), I should weigh in on this conversation.
I know it won't happen, but I'd like to see either Soledad O'Brien or Campbell Brown back on the show, replacing Ann. Although I watched neither after they moved to CNN, I thought both were well qualified for the job. (Meredith did turn out to be a great hire, however.) I'm not surprised that Ann is being canned. As a news reader, she's fine, but she's just not quick enough on her feet for the I-have-to-be-able-to-interview-everyone job. Her mind just doesn't work fast enough. If memory serves me correctly, Campbell Brown said that the reason she wasn't considered for the job when Katie left is because they wanted someone with a family so that viewers could relate to her better. She now has a family, I believe (not that I think that was a good reason for not hiring her six years ago). So, I assume that requirement's been dropped, if Savannah gets the job.
