Right - and if you replaced Christina (who I believe is paid significantly
more than the other judges) with a popular female singer who was paid half
as much, how many viewers would the show lose? Not many I suspect, and the
per-viewer cost of the replacement judge would be much smaller.

OTOH, there are other factors that may be at play. For all I know NBC was
able to charge more for advertising minutes for The Voice (at least at
first) based solely on the strength of Christina's name.
