Well, poor Clint was so incoherent and rambling that I don't think we can
attribute much of what he said to any part of the Convention script. He was
not using a teleprompter, went 5 minutes over (which, in the context of the
tightly orchestrated 60 minutes of prime time they had to get both Rubio
and Romney in front of the national audience was a huge over run - he
basically wasted 8% of their free primetime, and not in a good way.

It actually was a fairly stunning performance - I can't think of an speech
by any person, Republican or Democrat, in anything like the same high
profile political spotlight that was even close to being as bad. It was
most similar to some of those rambling acceptance speeches given by some
old fart actor for some kind of lifetime achievement award at the Golden
Globes. It was worse than anything Sarah Palin ever did, that's for sure -
though of course old man Eastwood is not running for any office himself.
Bill Clinton is remembered for giving a horribly long and wonky keynote
speech in I think 1988, but that only made him look really smart and really
narcissistic (both valid insights into the man it turned out) and of course
while it did not help Dukakis, it did help him. I hope Dina took him to the
ER to get checked out later that night; I have never been a fan of his
politics, but I am a big fan of his movies (the Italian westerns, and the
films he has directed, not so much the Harry films). I hope he is okay.
