I guess that in Britain we tend to think of "newsreaders" and journalists
as slightly different. Some journalists read the news, but not all
newsreaders are journalists - in that they go out and report.

As for Strictly? Well you mentioned the first series winner. But the only
other news related people have been breakfast TV presenters. There have
been quite a few of them. Are they journalists in the traditional sense?
Well none of them have spent much time in the Middle East recently.

We do get Strictly Christmas specials occasionally, and they turn up people
who can't give up 30 hours a week to train for the regular show, including
the odd serving politician.
