Billboard's Sean Ross, whose other job is with the company that did the survey revealing that the prime audience for Christmas radio didn't want to hear the Beach Boys, Eric Cartman or Neil Diamond singing Christmas songs explains--to a certain extent, since he doesn't bring up Mannheim Steamroller on the least-loved Christmas song list (which I suspect is the same reason that the "smooth jazz" format where the group had its first airplay is dying out)--but he does explain why that sanctimonious "The Christmas Shoes" still gets played:
