Would this explain why, when I recently saw the first few eps, they
were sans "The Ballad of Jed Clampett," which was replaced by generic
bluegrass?
Yes. The Public Domain DVDs of Hillbillies and Petticoat Junction
have generic music, not the theme songs. I have seen the PD
Dick Van Dyke shows on DVD but don't remember if they use
his theme.
