It's really amazing when you think of all the stuff he's done *besides* baseball (when the voices you grew up on for baseball was Ernie Harwell and Paul Carey on the radio and Vin Scully and Gargiola on TV, it just reminds you how crappy most of the teams are now). The most stunning thing in the Reuters article: he was a *host* of Today in 1990-92 (with Bryant Gumbel and Deborah Norville).
