I have to confess the pending death of JR is going to be tough to watch. Already saw a promotional photo showing how many former Dallas stars are returning for the funeral. The first half of season one of TNT's Dallas, the younger actors really had to work to match the massive personas of the veteran Ewings. To their credit, they have risen to the challenge, and the series can stand without the original cast as a viable/compelling soap opera. You have to credit (even though the Oscars didn't) Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy for setting the benchmark for the others.
