You have to credit (even though the Oscars didn't) Larry Hagman and
Patrick Duffy for setting the benchmark for the others.
And while I, too, will miss kitschy lines like "I got rid of Pamela Barnes
once, and I intend to go two-for-two", for me nothing will beat a scene in
last night's show, where JR cheered Bobby up from the other room via tablet:
"It's a dog playing basketball. Doesn't that beat all!"
The smile on Bobby's face and his response ("And get a hobby!") tells me
that Larry had to have pulled something similar on Patrick at some point on
set.
