In the Scottish castle, at the end of the party, O'Brien is seen talking to the lady of the castle after O'Brien discovered and dissed the Scottish lady's maid. The Scottish lady is headed for a posting overseas and the explanation is that she hired O'Brien for her maid. And Julian Fellowes notes that the situation is different when a downstairs character's actor wants to leave the show. A servant can get a new job and never be seen again while a family member has to be killed off. There are just no circumstances where Sybil and Matthew, would go somewhere else and never visit or be in contact. -- -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
