I think KO CAN be mellow - look at the "Fridays with Thurber" segments that
ended the week on Countdown for many years. One big difference would be
the stakes - if KO were to take over LLS, he'd have to be an entertainer
first, journalist (or however he thinks of himself) second, so presumably
he'd bring a kinder, gentler Keith to the table. And he's proven over the
years that he can be quite funny when we wants to be.

But assuming all this came to pass, there'd have to be a major format shift
at LLS back to the Snyder format - small studio, no audience, one guest per
night - and the affiliates might bawk at that. Many non-O&O stations
already push SCG back 30 minutes (I noticed this on the CBS affils in Baton
Rouge and New Orleans last week - presumably this was to push LLS back to
beyond midnight CST), and that's for a show with a robot skeleton and a
panto horse; they might be inclined to push serious conversation back even
further into late night (assuming LLS is must-carry for non-O&Os).
