There's a bit more parity in the UK. The incumbent is Lovefilm which does
have a DVD by post service but is most interested in pushing its streaming
offering. Lovefilm is owned by Amazon, and because of that UK Amazon Prime
members don't get anything beyond the free next day postage. Why disrupt
the model of the market leader?

Netflix is the new kid on the block and is streaming only in the UK.

And then there is Blinkbox, owned by Tesco (UK equivalent of Walmart in
scale), who also just have a streaming option.

Throw in Sky, Apple, YouTube et al, if feels like we're heading towards a
stream-anywhere world (physical media is disappearing) where price and
inventory will be the only real differentiators.
