My understanding was that the whole point was to allow the coaches to cycle
on and off the show so that they could maintain their status as touring
artists. Aguilera and Green returning is not a surprise - it will be
surprising if Adam and Blake are back in the fall, and shocking if they are
both back for both fall and spring. What they need of course though are two
new coaches for the male pop and country genres.

I too have enjoyed the current season more than the last couple, which I
attribute to the absence of the two most annoying coaches, and presence of
the two most likable ones. One measure of the distance between The Voice
and American Idol is the difference between Blake Sheldon and Keith Urban,
the latter being a seemingly fine fellow, but boring as dirt.
