Then they still would be to blame, for not confirming the cold-called information with another source (or not recognizing the names as a joke in the first place, especially if they were read out over the phone -- I strongly suspect the initial source of the names was an email). Good, perhaps the NTSB will start having their interns do, or at least observe, meaningful work, rather than answering phones.
