I do expect almost everyone to feel the same way about Oliver. I thought he
would be very good, and he was even better than I thought he would be.

I think the most common misunderstanding of TDS is that it is primarily
about political satire. Obviously it does do a lot of that, but its primary
focus, almost always, is satirizing the news media. I think that is the
main reason Stewart (and Oliver this summer) resists so much the label that
TDS is the main source of news for young adults. It is a primary source of
what real news outlets are doing badly.
