AI is hemorrhaging young viewers (average age 51.2 last year, 50.3 the year
before, 47.3 the year before that). Adding JLo and HC is not going to help
with that core problem - though both add likeability.

One of their core problems is that the easiest way to get a younger
audience is to pimp the white guys with guitars that appeal to young
teenage girls, but are less likely to translate into viable music acts
after they are done with the show. AI is not going to get 15M+ viewers each
night focusing on the kind of acts that appeal to young adults who are
serious about popular music - that would turn off most older adults and
young kids. Last season they intentionally stacked the deck in favor of
female performers, and I think that hurt them, especially in the last few
shows. So I think we will see a return of the young white dream-boats, and
what will be new is much less emphasis on greying music legends and
songbooks, and an attempt to get more younger, current acts to guest on the
show and feature their songs.
