I just watched the two MJF episodes. I liked it a little more than you. I actually did laugh once (at Harris' final line on the second episode). And I smiled a *lot*. Really enjoyed Katie Finneran's manic energy as Mike's sister. (If she's half as good here as she was in Broadway's "Promises Promises," she'll make the show worth watching.) Betsy Brandt, as Mike's wife, seemed like a less sexy, less focused Carla Gugino. The kids are all good, distinct personalities. The NBC plugging on MJF bothered me less than the McDonald's plugging on Crazy Ones. And I agree about the talking to the camera thing. It's time to drop the fake documentary thing; if you're going to talk to the camera, just drop the pretense and look directly into the lens, like George Burns did. I didn't love MJF, but after two episodes it's already funnier than "Go On" - and I watched every episode of that one. Crazy Ones, on the other hand, mostly made me cringe. And I say that as someone who was once a fanatically devoted Ally McBeal fan. -Tim -- -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
