Federal courts, will continue to operate for approximately two weeks with reserve funds. After that, only essential employees would continue to work, as determined by the chief judge, with the rest furloughed. (The Supreme Court will continue to operate when it opens Oct. 7, as it did in previous shutdowns.)" Essential workers must still go to work, but may not get paid (but probably will get retroactive pay when/if Ted Cruz lets the government re-open). Those sent home will not be able to make up the lost pay (for the most part) There are lots of jokes to be made about this, I have been making some myself. But also true that lots of people are going to be hurt pretty bad by this (one example, WIC payments will be suspended after a week or so). If you have daughters interning in DC, I would bring them home for the duration. During the last Shut Down a 19 year old intern (they are not paid so they can still come in) was called on to pick up the slack at the White House. That was how she met the President. And since there was only a skeleton crew, they had plenty of time together alone. -- -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
