Since we know that the syndicated reruns are now all-cash and are scheduled by the individual stations instead of satellite-fed, I suspect that there were stations that scheduled that episode to run during sweeps--I could even see some stations doing a "Mrs. Krabappel Week in Tribute to Marcia Wallace" and they didn't want their ratings to be hurt by the network airing the same episode.
