These kinds of quotes remind me of that old Steve Martin routine (from his "Let's Get Small" album, I believe) that went something like this: "I'm depressed...I'm kind of thinking of my old girlfriend...I kind of miss her...she's not living anymore...I guess I kind of blame myself for her death. We were at a party one night and she began to drink..she asked me to drive her home...I didn't want to, so I shot her." I guess it says something for social progress that a defense against calling someone a "cocksucking faggot" is that you only called him a "cocksucking motherfucker". And at least he is taking some of the responsibility himself. I actually do have some sympathy for what celebrities go through with the tabloid press and photographers, and when their children or loved ones are harassed or placed in some harm I am willing to cut them quite a bit of slack in terms of their response. But Baldwin is old enough, and has been down this road so many times, that it is obvious that he should by now have more effective ways of coping with this. -- -- TV or Not TV ....
