Jim Corno took the unsuccessful OTA pay TV service SportsVision to cable in 1984 under the auspices of Cablevision and brought it to eventual success, as it changed its name to Sports Channel Chicago to match Cablevision's other regional channels and later Fox Sports Net Chicago after Fox bought out most of Cablevision's interest--when Comcast started its own SportsNet Chicago, Mr. Corno was hired away (and with the Chicago sports teams as part owners of the new channel, saw FSN Chicago eventually shut down) and ran it until his death this morning after a long bout with cancer:
