Most know I've refrained from diving into politics on Facebook and on the message board for some time now. On Twitter, however, it's a different story. For months I and a small but dedicated group of people have successfully led boycotts against clubs or venues that book a musician named Michelle Shocked who continues to post ant-gay and racist insults on Twitter and elsewhere. Back in March, she notoriously ordered her San Francisco audience to Tweet that "God hates f*ggots." For those of you with Twitter, if you would please RT/share the following post on your Twitter feeds; one club owner remains entirely willfully ignorant of Shocked's eight months of gaybashing and bigoted language. I'm hoping they eventually do the right thing. So if you have a Twitter, please RT the linked Tweet. If you live in the UK, please call these people and tell them they are better than this, and the negative publicity they are receiving will disprove the notion that there's no such thing as bad press. From what I can tell, the club owners remember who Shocked used to be before she became a hateful born again Christian, and they have very arrogantly refused to educate themselves on what she's been up to lately. Please help me to convince the club to reconsider supporting a gaybashing bigot.
