If you mean "he reluctantly acquiesced to the deal NBC and Zucker forced on
him," than yes, he had something to do with it. But if you mean he forced
NBC to give him an extra five years, then no.

So the question is who suggested a move that everybody approves of and
which hurts nobody, and you're concerned about who suggested it? Really?
At worst, he made up a cover story to keep Burke from looking like a
villain (much like his 2004 cover story to keep Conan from looking like a
villain for forcing him out), then forgot to stick to the story. I honestly
don't see the question of who suggested moving up the date as a big deal.
Everybody wins.

You know, when the whole Conan/Jay kerfuffle went down in 2009-10, I was
totally on Conan's side. Until I found out that Jay had done nothing wrong.
Until I found out that Conan had lied and claimed that Jay forced him out
so that Conan could paint himself as a victim. Haven't been as much of a
Conan fan since then.

Jay's insistence that he's not a victim - that people who make millions of
dollars should not be pitied - is an admirable one that helps me to root
for him. I'm not as big a fan of his show as I used to be - the show has
been tired for years, and Fallon's my favorite now - but I still find a lot
to like and trust in Jay.
