I have a technical question relating to Fallon's intro. NBC has made a big deal of promoting the show's new "moon" logo. But when the Spike Lee-directed intro ran, I couldn't help but notice that the moon logo was partially covered by the "TV-14 L" ratings bug in the upper corner of the screen. (That bug came on the screen the moment the show started and stayed on for twenty seconds.) I'm sure it's something Lee and the show's staff never even thought of while they were shooting it. So I thought, well, that's a glitch they can fix - on the second night, I'm sure they'll delay the bug for 15 seconds so that the logo they've worked so hard to develop can appear the way they want it. But no, the same thing happened on the second night. My question is - *can* they delay it for 15 seconds? Or are they stuck with it the way it is? Is there some sort of FCC regulation saying the bug has to appear the instant the show starts? ----- I've noted a similar problem recently with some of the MythBusters intro and mid-show disclaimers, usually when the Build Team - Kari, Grant and Tory - do them. Whomever is on the left side of the screen is totally blocked out by the content rating. ---- I also agree with Mark Evanier's observation (at http://www.newsfromme.com/2014/02/18/watching-fallons-first-tonight-show/) that the Will Smith interview had too much fawning on both sides, and that Fallon needs to put a lid on that quickly. The Jerry Seinfeld interview on night two had a bit of that, but it also had some VERY funny lines from Seinfeld that made it much more palatable. -Tim ---- Fallon's interviewing is, at least for me, the weakest part of his show, and probably what makes it really tough for me to sit through a whole show rather than skip to the other bits. I know he's gotten better, but I think he has a long way to go. -- -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
