But if I can indulge my Trekkie side, Cliff Bole directed most of my favorite episodes of ST: TNG, DS9, and Voyager. His vision really helped to define those series in tone and appearance. "Best of Both Worlds" aka the big Borg two-parter was his, as was the episode where Spock returned.In addition to his Trek credits, Bole directed key episodes of several of my favorite shows, including "Spenser For Hire," "MacGyver," "The X Files," and the underrated 1980s reboot of "Mission: Impossible" (and, yes, if you insist, he also directed some "Baywatch" and "Fantasy Island" episodes... who are you to judge?). I recently rewatched some "MacGyver" episodes over the weekend, including one directed by Bole... they are not without cheese, but I think they hold up well.Anyway, Cliff Bole influenced the look of a lot of 1980s and 1990s television, which also means he influenced a lot of the look of the 1980s and 1990s in general, so it seemed worth mentioning his passing here.--
