I found the first episode disappointing. I will take Doug's comments into
account and realize that I am not the target audience, but I remember
thinking after the first segment that the approach did not seem compelling.
During the show I was not filled with a sense of wonder and a feeling that
I could not wait for what will come next. I like the NOVA approach and it
seems like Cosmos plods in comparison.

And I think there is another difference between Cosmos 1.0 and Cosmos 2.0
beside which network(s) are airing the show. Cosmos 1.0 was made before the
era of home recording of TV and was only meant for its own time. Cosmos 2.0
is produced in the era of the infinite archive and they might want to take
care so that it will still look relevant in 30 years.
