The 24 deal is something that Amazon did last month when they got the
exclusive rights to 24. Whether they were just fortunate that the previous
rights deal expired around now, or whether they were able to use their
financial muscle or not I don't know, but it was clearly related to the
upcoming 24 mini series:

Incidentally, this is only a US deal. Over here in the UK, 24 remains on
Netflix, and the entire catalogue is also available via Sky's "On Demand"
service (Fun fact: Should you ever find yourself in the UK and in need of
streaming, Netflix will use geolocation and offer you the UK range of films
and television rather than the US offering while you're here. And Netflix
exclusives aside, they can be very different. A lot more localised
television back catalogue is available, while to my mind, fewer recent
cinema releases are).
