It couldn't hurt. "Today" needs help.

I've been watching more of "Today" since I started working from home at the
beginning of this year, and one thing struck me right away - the division
between hard news and infotainment doesn't exist anymore. It used to be
that the transition from news to infotainment was a gradual slide starting
from 7:30 until 9; now if they manage 10 minutes of actual 'news' in the
7:00 hour (and I don't mean anything involving a Kardashian), that's a good
day.

I'll come right out and say that the 4th hour dilutes the "Today" brand.
You want a clone of Kelly & Michael? Congratulations, you've got one
(minus the studio audience). But spin it off, give it to Peacock
Productions and call it something OTHER than "Today". Because right now,
NBC's breadwinner is less associated with news and information than it is
with two boozy middle-aged women drinking heavily at an inappropriate hour
of the day.

And as far as the 3rd hour...honestly, other than star power, if there's a
substantive difference between it and "Access Hollywood Live" (another show
that seems to exist only to block time on NBC O&Os), I haven't figured it
out.
