The problem is that by calling that fourth hour "Today" it's not registered in the Nielsens as a daytime show and doesn't have to worry about competing against "The View" and "The Price is Right" for ratings in its time slot. And I think NBC wants it that way.
Meanwhile, the thought of the man that tried to keep the awful "Cold Pizza" going by changing its name and moving it to Bristol (but keeping Bayless and Paige's idiotic debates the prime attraction) running "Today" is more than a little disconcerting. I wonder if PBS stations will ever be able to shake off the view of all kiddie shows in the daytime and if that network can put together a serious morning news show with intelligent light features like--h, say, "Morning Edition" on NPR (if they can get the funding).
