Was it just me or was the coverage of the upfronts exceptionally subdued? I will admit that I do not obsessively pore over the Hollywood Reporter or Vulture sites so I might have missed their coverage. But usually there is at least one big story to emerge, even something like Kimmel's remarks to the ABC audience, and it is missing this year.
The first reason for no buzz is that no beloved series got canceled to the vocal shock and dismay of its fans. And the biggest network news items, CBS Thursday night football and the late night merry-go-round, were announced long before the upfronts. The thing I am wondering about is if this is a one year anomaly or the network lineup for fall has finally lost its buzz and place in our entertainment consciousness. -- -- TV or Not TV ....
