Carole Simpson, who as an African-American woman journalist pioneered
impressively starting in the 60s in local radio and television in Chicago
and then with NBC and ABC until she retired in 2006, took to Facebook to
criticize ABC for not inviting her to appear on Barbara Walters' last "The
View" program to give Walters a sendoff, along with an impressive lineup of
women TV journalists (and Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Gretchen Carlson),

brushoff:

ABC replied that the news department doesn't have anything to do with "The
View" and more-or-less that she should bring it up with producer Bill
Geddie.
