I like that question. In that universe Dave hosted the Tonight Show for 25
years after Carson retired, and Leno became famous as the best stand-up of
his generation, and Dave's cool pal who set the record for most guest
appearances on the Tonight Show. For the last 10 years of Dave's run Leno
guest hosted every Friday night, and averaged about 1 prime time special a
year for NBC.
