For all the scorn heaped on Debbie M. when The View used to have a 'young'
host, the idea was sound and Lisa Ling was certainly a decent co-host.  While
Elizabeth Hasselbeck may have been cast in that spot, my perception is that she
was rarely thought of for her relative youth.  Not that the young can't be
strongly ideological, but Hasselbeck never seemed to lead with her youth.

If I was placed in charge of the series, I'd try to skew younger and to find
less divisive yet still interesting women. Meghan McCain, Nicole Lapin, Soledad
O'Brien all leap to mind.
