Baseball: the sport that consistently takes one step forward and two steps back.
The "TV Everywhere" validation step is an easy one to get around (thanks for paying for cable so I can watch ESPN and NBCSN, mom!). But here's the scenario that isn't answered. Fort Wayne, Indiana is considered a home market of four teams: the White Sox, Cubs, Reds, and Tigers. Frontier Cable carries CSN Chicago and FS Ohio. They *don't* carry FS Detroit. I'm a subscriber to MLB.TV and Frontier. I buy the blackout-free upgrade. Do I get Tigers games? (Not that I'm expecting an answer from the panel; just pointing out the huge gaping hole in the logic) On Thu, Aug 21, 2014 at 10:06 AM, Bob Jersey <[email protected]> wrote: > > Back on August 9th, yours truly wrote: >> >> >> US District Judge Shira ("Don't Call Me Judy") Scheindlin allows a fan >> group's complaint against MLB and the NHL, along with Comcast and DirecTV, >> over pricing for their marquee out-of-market TV and online packages, seen >> as the leagues hiding behind their antitrust exemptions where they might >> not actually apply... >> >> THR's Hollywood, Esq >> <http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/judge-rules-mlbs-antitrust-exemption-724368> >> (link) >> >> >> > This Aypee piece found at TVNewsCheck > <http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/78635/video-blackouts-impede-baseball-online> > (link) has MLB planning to make games available blackout-free in a TV > Everywhere-type arrangement, meaning you'd have to prove you $ub$cribe to a > participating home programming provider to watch... the writer was not > impressed... > > B > > -- > -- > TV or Not TV ....
