Like so many other organizations, the PTC's actions unintentionally hurt
its cause. As we joke about here, when they release one of their lists of
offensive shows, people use it as a list of must-watch shows.

I have no problem with nudity or violence in prime time, but I'd also like
to see honest-to-goodness family friendly programing made available for
those who want the option. I do not consider children's programing family
friendly as most children's programing is nothing adults want to watch.
While I'm not a huge fan, I would point to Doctor Who as an example of the
sort of programing I'd like to see more of; kids can (and want to) watch
it, and adults won't feel like bashing their own skulls with a hammer if
they watch it. If you were a fan of the original series Boy Meets World,
I'd consider Girl Meets World equally enjoyable for kids and adults. But
most Disney Channel or Nick shows are nothing an adult wants to watch. I
mention all of this because instead of being critical of shows that offend
their senses -- instead of targeting advertisers and networks who refuse to
pander to them -- the PTC could be rallying support for programing that can
be watched by all. Any group that denounces something and tries to block
all others from seeing it just because it doesn't fit into their ideology
or theology is a group I'll always have problems with.
