I'm going to head to bed in a moment, and I want to address some of this, I
swear, but I feel obligated to mention something that happened tonight.

I host trivia on alternating Monday night's at a bar in Bucktown. For the
first time in four months, I did not have to work around Monday Night
Football or a Blackhawks game, for which I was eternally grateful (at some
point in mid-November, I came home and bluntly asked my wife what I did
wrong to have to keep listening to Jon F. Gruden* every other week). This
meant I had music on instead of game audio. The Bulls were playing tonight,
however, so that game was on half the TVs. I was getting ready to do my
introduction when I looked up and saw that the Bulls were about to have
some sort of...something. And then they pulled out to a larger view of the
darkened United Center, and you could see the video board, and on that
board you saw Stewart Scott. The Bulls were having a moment of silence in
memory of him, this after pregame moments of silence at both NFL wild card
games yesterday. I did wish, at that moment, that I had the TV audio and
could've had that moment of silence played and honored in the bar.

* Middle initial shared with Bucky Dent in the Boston area.

I think someone referenced this already in the thread, but here is KO's
opening memoriam to Scott today (after the break he ran Scott's first
"Sports Smash" in its entirety).

Love him or hate him (or, as in my case, love him and hate him) has anyone
ever done TV obits better than KO? Dude could do an "Obit of the Month"
show and I would be totally down with that (his remembrance of that hockey
player a few weeks ago was riveting, he gave about 2 premature obits for
Gordie Howe, and of course we will never forget what he did on the death of
his own dad while at MSNBC.
