Back in the day I remember when Carson used to berate affiliates in the middle of his show when they would cut away from The Tonight Show or not clear the whole program at 11:30 ET.
So now I'm stuck with Jimmy Fallon who dares to start on time and WCNC who can't get their late night automation to work correctly and comes in 30 seconds late at the start of some programs and doesn't return from commercial breaks promptly. If you saw the open to Monday's Tonight Show, you'd understand why missing the first 30 seconds of the opening was kind of significant.
