I've said repeatedly that I firmly believe mankind will not set foot on
Mars in my lifetime, and I stand by that belief. Lately I'm becoming more
convinced that I won't see the US launch any astronauts into space, not
counting hitchhikers, in my lifetime, either.

Related to media, I wish the media would do more reporting on how the
government under both Bush and Obama have worked to destroy manned space
exploration. From slashing of budgets to privatizations to the ignorant
tools heading up senate committees on space, science, etc, people should be
outraged at what was once a point of national pride being reduced to
oversized lawn darts and remote control cars.

Remember when NBC and CNN both had "senior science editors," titles which
meant there was actually more than once scientist on staff? Those were the
days.
