Oliver did a 33-minute segment last night (the episode was expanded to 45 minutes) on government surveillance, which was, naturally, outstanding. During that segment, he conducted an interview with Edward Snowden that, quite simply, outshines his Kirsten Gillibrand interview. It was serious, it was powerful, it was forceful, and at the end it became ridiculous, but not in a bad way: he manages to use an incredible metaphor to actually *explain* the Patriot Act.
