I listened to the interview and I think making the episode a "clean" one
was decided upon beforehand. At the end Maron had a long list of people to
thank and that included some people at iTunes. I think that was an
agreement to keep the episode clean in order to make distribution easier -
if it stayed rated explicit, anybody wanting to stream or download it from
a link would be faced with agreeing to download/stream explicit material
and the White House PR did not want that.
