I know I've seen Thomas in other things, and I get some of the pop-culture references made related to That Girl, but I think the pilot (free on iTunes) was the first full episode I watched. I had it on while doing housework and there wasn't a point when I was interested enough to stop cleaning and focus on the show. I only likened it to Breakfast At Tiffanys because both characters seemed to have a free-spirited attitude, yet still clung to men (or the need for men -- I only recently learned that Truman Capote originally intended for Paul to be a gay man in Breakfast At Tiffanys... what that means for the sexist angle is more than I could say). I'm trying to think of what else might have been on in the mid to late '60s that I could compare it to in terms of degree of sexism, but everything I can think of still has a man riding to the rescue of a woman, even if only as a comedic element to a sitcom. -- Kevin M.
