Gifford, Cosell and Meredith were the best sports announcing team of all time. At least in English. The sum was greater than the individual parts. A little bit of Howard went a long way, as anyone who listened to his boxing commentary understood. Together they balanced each other. The bad games were tolerable because they were so good. Name an announcing team in any sport today where that is true.
