I am not a frequent Myers' viewer, but I don't dislike his show, and whenever I do see it I think he is most funny when he is most close to this Update persona. If anything, I would advise him to push this as much as possible, and not just do his monologue from a news desk, but do his Act 2 comedy pieces and even celebrity interviews as segments on a news show. I suspect the current trial represents their sense that with the absence now of both Colbert and Stewart, there is an opening for a fake news hour in late night, and why not take a stab at it in some form? After reading this piece, I wonder if Colbert is partly thinking that his news commentary gets its funny from his specific POV. While that does not have to be excluding of conservatives, it probably will never feel open-arm embracing. He may be looking for a different Act 1 that would feel inclusive, and then hit them with more POV news commentary in Act 2. -- -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
